North County is located in the northern part of San Diego, and it is made up of two regions in which there are many cities, communities, and residents that work together to make the region what it is - a developed, thriving and working region.


With a population of over 800,000, the North County is made up of cities namely Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos, Temecula, and Rancho Bernardo as well as a dozen other communities that make up the region. We will be having a look at each of these cities and what they have to offer.

OCEANSIDE

This is one of the coastal cities in North County, San Diego. It is located along the South coast of California and is the third-largest city in San Diego County, California. It is one of the cities in the tri-city area made up of Vista, Carlsbad, and Oceanside. It has a population of nearly 200,000 and the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton which houses 36,000 Marines, and Navy personnel is located north of the city.


Oceanside has a rail service which it’s residents take to Orange County and Los Angeles. For a coastal city to have this kind of service, it is quite a luxury. Oceanside also has its own private airport which is much closer than John Wayne Airport in Orange County and Lindbergh Field in Downtown San Diego. There are also numerous activities to engage in, which include tennis, skateboarding, beach surfing, and dance classes.

CARLSBAD

This city is a community on its own and is one of the larges suburban cities in North County San Diego. This is where Lego Land is located, and this theme park attracts lots of tourists and visitors daily. Carlsbad is a city that keeps growing daily, and it has an impressive existing landscape which a lot of people love.


Carlsbad has the Pacific and mountains and valleys around it. Many homes in Carlsbad have excellent views of the ocean, and there is a booming real estate market within the canyons and hills. In Carlsbad, you will find the busiest single runway airport in the country, which makes traveling easier instead of going down to Lindbergh Field in Downtown San Diego, which is 35 miles away. The Coastal is also an alternative for anyone traveling from Carlsbad to San Diego.


Carlsbad is a preserved beach community with a vibrancy to it. Here, you will find beaches, parks, night clubs, numerous shops that have everything you need, and sidewalk cafes where you can grab a quick bite. The Carlsbad population comprises of singles, families, and retirees, and it is a top destination for middle-class people to settle down because of its perfect weather.


During Spring, the foothills of Carlsbad make a sight to behold and admire with the rainbow of brilliant colors that you see all over the place. March and April are the months where you see gladioli and buttercups in their full glory while winter brings about the bloom of poinsettias. This vibrant display of floral beauty is unique to North America.
Carlsbad also has the reputation of being a top golfing city, and it currently has ten golf course with more to be built soon. Some of the activities that make Carlsbad what it is include the well-known Lego Land theme park, sports fields, a public swimming pool, parks, golf courses, a motor speedway, an annual triathlon amongst others.

VISTA

Vista is a city in the northwest of San Diego County. It has a population of almost 102,000, and it takes some portion of unincorporated San Diego and is located seven miles inland away from the Pacific Ocean. Vista city has a Mediterranean climate. The city was founded in 1882 with a post office as its most notable landmark, and it got incorporated on January 28, 1963.


There are over 25 educational establishments in this city, and the business park has more than 800 companies operating in it. Vista has also been named out of 240 cities as the 173rd best city to live in California using determining factors like education, affordability, safety, family, health, and recreation.

SAN MARCOS

San Marcus is a city located in the N County San Diego California with a population a little above 83,000 people. On the east of San Marcus, we have Escondido and on the Carlsbad is located on the west. Encinitas borders the city to the southwest while Vista is located on the northwestern part of the city. Within the southwestern part of the city, there is Lake San Marcos which is a county island or an enclave which can still be considered a community that is yet to be incorporated.

ESCONDIDO

Escondido is located 30 miles or 48 km away from downtown San Diego on the northeastern part. The city became incorporated in 1888 and is one of the oldest cities located in San Diego County.

TEMECULA

This city is in Riverside County in the southwestern part of California. It is a top tourist destination and resort city. This city boasts of Valley Wine County, the Temecula Valley Polo Club, the Temecula Valley International Film Festival and numerous resort accommodations for tourists. All of these contribute to the robust economy that the city enjoys, Temecula has a population of about 114,000 and the city was incorporated in `1989 on the 1st of December.

RANCHO BERNARDO

This is one of the communities in North County San Diego, and it has a population of 71,891. Rancho Bernardo has been ranked as one of the best places to live in San Diego and in California at large. Life in Rancho Bernardo has an urban feel to it, and most of the residents of this city own their homes. The city contains a lot of parks and coffee shops and some of the highest rated schools in the country.
